01 · Scope

What this policy covers

This Privacy Policy describes how California Stock Exchange, Inc. ("California Stock Exchange", "we", "us") handles personal information collected through our website at californiase.com, our marketing materials, and our onboarding and membership inquiries. It does not govern the order, trade, and settlement data that members and issuers route through the exchange under contract; that data is processed under the California Stock Exchange Rulebook, the relevant member or issuer agreement, and the associated data processing addendum, and is subject to the recordkeeping and reporting obligations applicable to a regulated exchange.

By using our website or contacting us, you confirm you have read and understood this policy. If you do not agree with it, please do not submit information to us.

02 · Information we collect

Categories of information

Information you give us. When you submit a contact form, request a demo, subscribe to updates, or correspond with us by email, we collect the information you provide - typically your name, business email, company, role, country, and any context you share about your use case.

Information collected automatically. Our website logs standard request metadata - IP address, user agent, referrer, pages requested, and timestamps - to operate the site, prevent abuse, and produce aggregate analytics. We use a small number of cookies and similar technologies for session continuity and basic measurement; we do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

Information from third parties. We may receive professional information about you from publicly available sources (for example, your company website or LinkedIn profile) when evaluating an inbound request or preparing for a meeting.

Member and issuer trading data. If your organization is a member or issuer on the exchange, the order, trade, and settlement data that flows through our markets is governed by the California Stock Exchange Rulebook and the agreement with your organization, not by this Privacy Policy. We process it to operate, clear, settle, and surveil the markets and to meet our regulatory obligations, and we do not use it for unrelated purposes.

03 · How we use information

Purposes and lawful basis

We use personal information to respond to inquiries, schedule and conduct meetings, provide requested materials (such as the business plan or pitch deck), send updates you have asked to receive, operate and secure the website, and meet our legal and regulatory obligations.

Where applicable privacy law requires a lawful basis, we rely on (i) your consent, where you have given it; (ii) the steps required prior to entering into a contract at your request; (iii) our legitimate interest in operating, securing, and growing the business in a manner you would reasonably expect; or (iv) compliance with a legal obligation.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not use the information you provide for advertising or for training third-party machine learning models.

04 · Sharing and processors

Who we share information with

We share personal information only with vetted service providers acting on our behalf - for example, our hosting and CDN provider, our email and calendaring provider, our customer relationship management system, and our analytics provider. Each is bound by contract to use the information only for the services we have engaged them to perform.

We may also disclose information where required by law, regulation, court order, or other valid legal process; to enforce our rights or agreements; or to protect the safety, property, or rights of California Stock Exchange, our customers, or the public. In the event of a corporate transaction (merger, acquisition, financing, or asset sale), information may be transferred as part of that transaction subject to confidentiality protections.

Some of our service providers are located outside your country of residence. Where we transfer personal information internationally, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses) where required.

05 · Retention & security

How long we keep it and how we protect it

We retain personal information only as long as needed for the purpose for which it was collected, including any legal, accounting, or reporting requirements. Inbound contact records are typically retained while the relationship is active and for a reasonable period thereafter, then deleted or anonymized.

We apply administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect information from unauthorized access, use, alteration, or destruction - including encryption in transit, access controls, audit logging, and least-privilege access. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

06 · Your rights

Access, correction, deletion, and choice

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, object to or restrict certain processing, withdraw consent at any time, and lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. California residents may exercise the rights provided under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA), including the right to know, delete, correct, and opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information; we do not sell your personal information. Note that certain records we maintain as a regulated exchange are subject to legal retention and reporting requirements that may limit deletion rights.

You can opt out of our newsletter or update messaging at any time by using the unsubscribe link in the email or by writing to us. To exercise any other right, contact us using the details below; we will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law.
